Once the privilege of a few, mobile phones have become a worldwide phenomenon that has genuinely enhanced lives and contributed to economies everywhere. According to Economist magazine, mobile phones are singularly responsible for accelerated socio-economic development in many countries*. And a second wave of growth is anticipated as multimedia devices become more available and affordable. By 2013 it is estimated that 90% of new mobile subscriptions will be in the world’s high-growth markets such as China and India. ST-Ericsson is especially well positioned in the Chinese TD devices market and will continue to take the lead in accelerating the proliferation of TD wireless technologies. By 2009 there were already more than 100 TD terminal product devices based on our platforms including handsets, data cards and netbooks.

ST-Ericsson is helping the development of the ecosystem in these countries by offering everything from basic voice services to the latest multimedia features. In China our T3G subsidiary has spearheaded TD innovation since 2003, including many industry firsts.

Affordability and value creation

Our products are proven in their reliability with exceptionally swift times to market. We make more multimedia and connectivity features available on low-cost devices. Our single chip 2G platforms complete our broad portfolio.
